Boxwood Avenue: American Made Awards Finalists Favorites

Being nominated for The American Made Awards is a huge accomplishment in itself, but winning an award can honestly be life changing for companies.  I think it's a wonderful way for small businesses to be discovered by the (appreciative) masses.  You may not want to sift through the 63 pages of finalists, but don't fret - I've done the dirty work for you!  So sit back and enjoy my top picks (in no particular order, how could they even be ranked!?), and see who actually brought home the gold here (Floret Flowers is my fave from the winners).

Handcrafted Honey Bee: How am I just discovering this!?  I have a DEEP rooted love of honey, I quite literally drizzle it on my cheeseburgers and grilled cheese sandwiches - in fact, I almost named this blog The Honey House.  Anyways, I think you're going to fall in love with the Handcrafted Honey Bee's amazing line of products, I know I already have!  I'm thinking one of these for each of my bridesmaids?

The Object Enthusiast: This shop is pretty well known, and is featured on Etsy's front page quite often.  Her work is so beautiful, it's hard not to love it!

Silk and Willow:  You know the heart-eyed emoji?  Well, that's me with Silk and Willow!  If you haven't discovered Silk and Willow yet, you're going to be thanking me for shedding the light.  They have the most beautiful natural dyed ribbon and accessories for the home (I will be using their ribbon for the bouquets in my wedding).  They have a pretty sweet Instagram account to boot.

Damn Handsome Grooming Co.:  Looking for a unique gift for your main squeeze?  Damn Handsome soaps are made from beer.  Yes, beer!  The founders decided to repurpose ingredients from microbreweries into grooming products - in order for the average man to "feel a hell of a lot more manly".  I think the gents in your life will cheers to that (even if it takes place at 7 am, in the shower).

ZigZag City Guides: These adorable interactive maps are sure to keep the kiddos busy in taxi rides while you're traveling near and far.  I think they would also make a perfect gift.

Eirka Barratt: Possibly some of the most wonderful things I've seen in a while are Erika Barratt's creations.  Her inspiration comes from antique treasures and found heirlooms; purchasing something from her shop will surely be passed down with many stories to tell.

Sweet Cottontail:  The most adorable little frocks for la petites filles.  I think these handmade dresses are perfect for special occasions, and the company believes in classic pieces that can be saved and passed down from generation to generation.  How sweet!

Fig & Bella: I am a big scarf girl, and when I came across these, I jumped with joy.  They are absolutely gorgeous, and hand dyed, printed, and woven.  One is definitely making its way onto my Christmas list.

Notables:

  • Jack Rudy Cocktail Co.: An excuse to make a cocktail bottled up, this goes to show my love of good packaging once again.  This elderflower tonic is definitely on my grocery list this week (is an internet based grocery list a real thing?).
  • Through this sifting process I discovered I have a terrible obsession with ceramics, this shop would have been on my list, but she isn't quite open yet.  I can't wait for her to launch!!!
  • Browsing the nominees, I was not surprised to see this shop on the list.  I actually bought myself and my grandmother these for Christmas last year, they are unbelievably cute and the shop owner was awesome to work with.
  • If you've seen this pin running around on everyone's boards, I'm sure you've been inspired to recreate the look.  Well here's a great place to find those amazing geometrical shapes.
  • It's hard to be a 'unique' candle company, but I adore Linnea's Lights not only for their scents, but also for their packaging!
  • One Smart Cookie is an awesome idea, and I hope the owner is able to get her start-up funds, because these are a perfect gift for every foodie out there.
