Why I use Yummly as a Blogger

This year I have set clear cut goals for myself. One of them is a specific number of pageviews that I'd like to reach per month. There's no doubt about it - I would blog regardless if I had 1 page view a month, or 1 million. I absolutely love blogging, well, creating in general. 

But, around here, there really isn't much to do in the way of jobs. I have a degree in marketing, which is put to some use on the ranch, but for the most part, I use what I learned in good ol' college on this blog. This year, I hope to start accepting a few sponsored posts, and making a bit of money at this thing called blogging, which is a very weird job title to have! 

So, since January 1st, I've been monitoring my pageviews very closely, and recently noticed I'd had a significant number of views from something called "Yummly". I was vaguely familiar with the site, but hadn't used it before. So I clicked over to see which recipe of mine was getting clicked on. It turns out someone else had submitted a few of my cocktail recipes to the site, which is why I was seeing the click overs.

I honestly thought to myself - the world does not need one more virtual recipe box holder. Seriously with FoodGawker, TasteSpotter, Pinterest, etc... The market was getting saturated (thank you UNR for teaching me that term). Yet, Yummly was different. Yes, in a sea of the same, they decided to tweak things, and I liked it! 

Yummly pulls tags from the recipe to calculate the calories and nutrition facts, but asks users to click over to get the step by step instructions. To me, the nutrition facts are invaluable, thus the virtual recipe box site won me over instantly. 

From here on out, I'll be adding a yummly button to my recipes, so that you can not only easily save them, but also easily calculate nutrition facts (plus, if you have Facebook, you don't have to create an account, which I really like! One less password to remember.)!
