DIY Tassel Necklace

May 26, 2015

We’re slowly recovering from all of the madness around here, if you don’t know what I’m talking about, you can read it here.  Luckily in-between chick checks, and kitten bottles, I was able to carve out a little DIY time.

I don’t know about you, but I love to make jewelry.  It’s an easy project, and generally pretty quick (as long as you’re not doing any intricate beading).  I always have a hard time deciding what I want to make and end up with about a million things in my shopping cart.  This DIY Tassel necklace is the perfect simple pendant necklace, it takes less than 10 minutes, and you can get all of the supplies in the links below – so don’t worry about spending hours deciding what you’re going to make!

  • 5 feet gold filled chain (or silver, whatever your preference)
  • 2 jump rings (try these)
  • 1 coiled/double jump ring (try this, but I’m sure a regular jump right would work just fine too!)
  • 1 double sided bead (try here, here, or here)

Step 1: Measure the chain to match the length you’d like your necklace to be.  To find this, I wrapped the chain around my neck and used my finger to mark where to cut, or use this chart.

Step 2: Using a jump ring and the double sided bead, attach the two ends of the chain together.

Step 3: Use the remaining chain to cut 3 inch pieces, if some aren’t exact it will add more dimension to the tassel.  I cut about 10.

Step 4: Attach the strips of chain to a coiled jump ring.

Step 5: Use the last jump ring to attach the tassel to the bottom of the double sided bead.
