‘The Vodka Flower’ Sugar Rimmed St. Germain Shots | Toasting From Afar

April 8, 2016

It’s Friday! Time to celebrate with this Vodka & St. Germain cocktail! Share your weekend plans with me on Instagram or Twitter with #toastingfromafar!

For some strange reason Greg was dead set on naming one of the goats, so obviously he chose Elderberry. I have no clue why he was so adamant about that name, I think Thyme would have been great – but no, Elderberry it is.

When I asked Greg why, he just said, “well it’s your favorite drink, and he’s going to be your favorite goat.”

Au contraire my friend, I love all of my children equally. All 15 of them.

The name Elderberry has grown on me, and it seems to fit him well. Meaning he is berry rambunctious and spunky, and hops around like he’s drunk 99% of the time.

Hopefully I will be able to share the good news that Rosemary is out of the hospital. FINGERS CROSSED here. You may have seen on Snapchat that she has a parasite, and was getting to the point of no return, or what some people like to call death’s door, so I decided to do the unheard of, and take my goat to the veterinary hospital. This afternoon, I heard news from the vet that she was able to get up and walk around and even eat a little bit on her own. This is good news! <– Side note, every time the chickens lay an egg, both Greg and I look at each other and say, GOOD NEWS! We are weird like that.

Like I said, I hope I have VERY good news to share with you on Sunday for #RanchLifeSunday. If Rosemary can make it through the next 48 hours, we think she will be able to pull out of this.

With good news comes good drinks right? This Elderberry liquor shot is just the ticket. Made with St. Germain and a dash of vodka, it’s the perfect drink to get the party started, but let’s face it, the sugared rim is really the only good reason to drink this. Unless, like me, you have a serious thing for St. Germain, then that’s a pretty good reason too.

‘The Vodka Flower’

Elderflower Liquor Shots

Serves 3 (shot size aka fun size):

  • 2 oz. Vodka
  • 2 oz. St. Germain (or other Elderflower liquor)
  • Juice from half a lemon

Shaken, not stirred, well over ice! Serve in sugar rimmed shot glasses!

For sugar rim: Pour sanding sugar into a small dish, rim the shot glasses with lemon juice, then dip the rim into the dish of sugar. Voila, sugar rimmed shots!

  1. Oh, I love Saint Germain! We usually add it to our gin and tonics, but this sounds like it could be my new favorite cocktail! Thanks for this recipe.

    • I can tell you – it is!!! ;) I have been making it a few times a week as a treat, but adding soda water to it to make it a cocktail!

  2. Chloe, I think this is going to be my celebratory drink once Spot arrives! It looks and sounds so delicious!

PS – your images are gorgeous!

    • Thank you! I made it again tonight, and added soda water to it to turn it into a cocktail rather than a shot!
