Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies in a Jar

This SIMPLE handmade gift of chocolate chip cookies in a jar will delight anyone and takes less than ten minutes to bring together! Complete with a free printable gift tag!

Ingredients

  • cups all purpose flour
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup brown sugar lightly packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 oz. semi sweet chocolate 1/2 bar, chopped roughly
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

To Make the Jars

  • Start by layering the 1½ cups all purpose flour at the base of the jar. Tip: Use a funnel for easy layering!
    Next, add in the ¾ teaspoon baking soda and ½ teaspoon salt.
    Gently tap the jar on the counter to evenly distribute the ingredients.
    Then, add the ½ cup brown sugar. Use the back of a spoon to gently pack the sugar into the jar. Top with the ½ cup granulated sugar.
    Then, add the remaining toppings. 2 oz. semi sweet chocolate, roughly chopped and ½ cup chopped walnuts. Note: You can get creative with these toppings, just keep the ratio the same!
    Seal the jar, and adorn with the free printable gift tags and baking instructions. The gift tag has instructions for your recipient!

To Bake the Cookies

  • You’ll need 1 stick of butter (½ cup), an egg, vanilla, and the cookies in a jar!
    Preheat oven to 350 F
    In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream together ½ cup butter, 1 room temperature egg, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. On low speed, add in the contents of the jar. Mix until just combined.
    Divide the dough into 10 evenly sized rounds and place on a lined cookie sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden on top. Do not overbake!
