An easy Valentine’s Day treat – heart shaped dessert
I love making extra special treats for Valentine’s day, and using these wonton wrappers to make a sweet potsticker happens to be one of my favorite recipes ever! Incredibly simple, and more unique than the typical heart shaped pies, these Valentine desserts will make you want to eat the entire batch. Even better is the sweet dipping sauce to accompany them.
Heart Shaped Potstickers
Ingredients (makes 12):
- 24 wonton wrappers
- 1 cup cherry jelly (or any jelly)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup cream cheese, optional
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1-3 tablespoon(s) milk depending on desired amount
Use a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut wonton wrappers into shapes. The wrappers have a bit of give, so if needed, feel free to stretch them out.
Place about 1/2 a tablespoon of your favorite jelly in the center of a wonton wrapper, and if you’re really going all out, add a bit of cream cheese too! Then add a second wrapper on top of it. Add a drop or two of water to the edge of the wrappers to glue them together, and use a fork to really seal it all up!
Heat up a little butter in a frying pan, and once hot, add the potstickers. Turn once while cooking (about 4 minutes in), and allow them to brown. Be careful not to let the butter burn! A little jelly may seep out during this step, don’t fret!
Let the potstickers cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar. Mix the remaining powdered sugar with a dash of milk to create a dipping sauce. Delicious!
