For me, September will forever be a month of turning inward and exploring previous months as well as charting the months ahead.

The practice of mapping, cartography, is an art form that allows us to understand our place and our relation to the world – and so, I guess, I add “cartographer” to my growing resume as I continue mapping my journey through this world.

This month, I celebrate the roads I have chartered and look forward to crafting the remaining months of the year. A month of reflection and anticipation all in one, September provides the space we should explore every year.

The internal gaze is one that can be difficult to master. Perhaps the months prior to September have been a challenge (oftentimes, this is the case) or maybe you have found a stroke of luck and your sight will only recognize the glimmers that have created your year thus far.

Regardless of how your year has taken shape, September is perfect for catching light. Reflect on the good. Even storms have lightning and keep in mind, reflections are impossible without light.

Recognizing patterns, moments of return, and moments of surprise presents my ever growing interest in time and how it is spent. The chirality of daily routines forces me into the present moment – a piece of time I will forever cherish.

Catching light is similar in the way it is never exactly the same through each hour, minute, or second. It’s not about chasing fleeting feelings, it’s about recognition and appreciation for what is.

Every year during September, I hold on to last of summer warmth while keeping the other hand open to the season to come. I often become more inspired by heavier visuals in design, like vintage mantels, and love layering a delicate tank top with a worsted sweater – it’s like a little secret between me and summer, signaling that I am always ready for it’s return.

Favorite Delicate White Tanks

Making layering more interesting than a basic tank always makes for the best foundation of a well-styled outfit.

Best Fall Jackets: Cropped Edition

Going into Fall, I am loving cropped jackets this year. The boxier fits let’s me wear some of my favorite cardigans underneath.

Subtle Statement Earrings

When it comes to jewelry, I always have my staples for necklaces and bracelets, so I love playing around with my earrings. I love how they can be an unexpected pop of fun!

Fall Bags: Crossbody

Of course richer colors always remind me of Fall, but I love these particular three!

Vintage Finds of the Month

My favorite vintage home finds from around the web this month: vintage lighting, artwork, and candelabras.
