Make this easy greyhound recipe with rosemary simple syrup!

I think you all know that rosemary is my better half at this point. I really do put it in everything. And since I doubt Greg will closely read this, I can let you know, I am naming my goat ‘Rosemary’. Wait, did I just say goat? Yes. Operation Strong Arm (better known as: OSA) is re-comencing.

I know, I know. I officially get the bad wife award, but if Greg had his say in it, we’d never have goats, and that just isn’t an option for me. I am a firm believer in compromise, and since he is getting a new truck before I get a new car (something that wasn’t in our game plan), I think it’s only fair that I get goats… New truck = goats. Right?

Anyways, I am on a goat tangent – let’s talk about greyhounds. They are delicious, refreshing, and one of my favorite cocktails! This version incorporates a faint flavor of rosemary, and is the perfect cocktail to whip up this weekend.

To juice the rosemary, you can use one of those lemon juicers, or a beater from an electric mixer. If you go with option 2, you’ll need to strain the juice through some cheese cloth to get rid of seeds. Hint – get the cheese cloth wet with water before using it, or the grapefruit juice will simply sit on top of the cloth.

Ingredients:

  • 3 oz. vodka

  • 2 grapefruits, juiced

  • 1-2 oz. rosemary simple syrup depending on sweetness preference

  • 6 oz club soda (optional)

Shake vodka, grapefruit juice, and simple syrup well with ice. Pour in a glass and serve.

If you’d like a bit more diluted grapefruit flavor, pour into a tall glass, and top with club soda. Not so much of a vodka person? Try making a grapefruit collins instead!

  1. First of all, omg that cocktail shaker is adorable. Second of all, I literally just found out what a greyhound was yesterday (thanks, Trivial Pursuit) and now you have convinced me that this is fate and I need to have one. It looks amazing!

    1. haha I think it’s fate! They are such a great staple (and SO much better than their brother the Screwdriver. Nobody ever wanted a screwdriver). LOL
