School has started, the air is beginning to feel a bit more crisp in the morning, and I have autumn on my mind!

The heat of the summer seemed to drag on this year more than past years. After a few weeks of 90+ degrees I began dreaming of the cooler days of fall, and have been looking forward to them ever since. With the new season comes the itch to spruce up the house and add a few fall touches throughout.

When I start adding autumn decor into my home, I think texture first and foremost. A nice cozy knit blanket, fresh branches with turning leaves, and natural textiles like linen, wool, and jute! Adding layers of texture is the first step to creating a cozy and welcoming space.

You also want to consider a warm color palette that includes the colors that nature produces during this season! I love adding mustards and olive greens with pops of burnt red and even some grays and navy accents.

Adding a mix of organic elements like woven baskets and rich textiles is the perfect recipe to transition from summer to autumn!

AFFORDABLE FALL HOME DECOR

Throw pillows are one of the easiest ways to switch things up. Try mixing and matching textures and colors from an autumn palette. Grays, blues, and mustards go perfectly together!
