I am on a mission to be more green and I’m starting with paperless paper towels. I hate to say this, but that’s probably my husband’s worst nightmare. He’s a cowboy, and cowboys don’t really enjoy going green. They like eating steaks and drinking beers, and recycle their cans only because they get some money back for more beer.

how to make paperless paper towels

Anyways, this household is going green.

Maybe I’ll get called a hippie around here, but that’s okay, I like a good tie-dye moment, so long as it’s Shibori and came from Net-a-Porter… ;)

The other day my neighborcousin mentioned her disgust over paper towel use… I hid the fact that we go through more paper towels that I care to count. Especially when the goats were living inside.

But now that the goats have migrated to their natural habitat, I think it’s time to reserve the paperless paper towels for emergency use only.

I was inspired to make these paperless paper towels after I saw this beautiful set from Polder’s Old World Kitchen, but rather than purchase them, as any DIY gal would do, I dusted off my serger and made my own!

To get the steps, click on over to Darling’s blog! As always, thank you so very much for being here! I hope you enjoy this project!

  1. Omg. I know the feeling. We use a ton of paper towels, but it’s just so easy with the kids! We just moved to a new neighborhood and the crows tipped over our garbage can last week, there were paper towels all over the drive way. The neighbor came over and was like "please clean this. You shouldn’t use so many paper towels". I was totally freaking mortified. I am never buying another paper towel again. *pulls out the sewing machine.

  2. Good for you! I did a post about going paper towels less. I have made them or gifts. Plus we use real napkins I made. The men in my family finally got on board.

  3. Ok, so is it wrong that the part about the goats living inside made me giggle? lol I say this only because we have had various farm pets living inside with us until they were able to go to the barn. Gotta love the country life!

  4. These are so darling! I hate having a roll of paper towels on the counter, and this would be a lovely alternative!

  5. So useful! And I love that you’re on a mission to be more green and sustainable. We need more ladies like you!

  6. I’ve seen DIYs like this and really like the idea, though I haven’t done it yet. Thanks for sharing your version. Very pretty "paper" towels, too :)

  7. These are perfect! I refuse to use paper towels, but I love the idea of having clothes specifically meant for cleaning up.

  8. When I read "paperless paper towels" in your title, I had to check this out. Really cool idea. I might need to try this, my hubby hates paper towels. I really like the idea of going green too.

  9. I would love to do this, but the Hubs is icked out by it. He doesn’t do the laundry and if I don’t have a problem with it, neither should he!

  10. I’ve been trying to use more paperless paper towels for years now, but every now and then I cave and buy a roll. This is great, I will have to give these a try! Thank you for sharing!
