Some simple ways to update your living room this fall with farmhouse inspired decor and vintage touches!
Fall decorating ideas…
I am so happy to share our fall living room with you today to supply a little inspiration as you begin to dust off the wreaths and bring in the pumpkins! This year I have been inspired by natural elements like wood, glass, and of course the foliage all around.
As the leaves change, it’s almost as if nature is supplying us with free decor. I have been bringing in fresh cut branches each week as the season changes. The ripe apples and berries on the trees are true gifts from nature!
Perhaps that’s why we find so much satisfaction in seeing them in our homes? We know just what a wonderful gift the fall harvest is!
Today I am sharing a few photos from our living room along with some of my blogging buddies. If you’ve been following along our kitchen and dining room posts, I know you will love seeing their living room ideas! There is so much to be inspired by, I hope you have some fun!
One of the easiest ways to update a living room for fall is to add texture and color with textiles! A nice chunky blanket & fall pillow combination is the perfect foundation – then it’s all about the little details.
I suggest nailing down a color scheme with textiles – like greens & browns or reds & oranges – then adding in decor pieces that compliment the textiles. I picked up a few brown plaid pillows from TJ Maxx along with a set of beautiful green pillows with amazing texture. The pillows were truly the only things I purchased to update our living room this fall!
I paired them with my DIY navy linen pillows & a few neutral pillows, then simply placed a few pumpkins and fresh cut branches throughout the room. It’s truly amazing what a new set of pillows and some greenery can do for a space! Light a candle, and you’ve created a cozy spot for sipping tea and enjoying the cooler weather.
I hope you will visit my friend’s blogs to get even more inspiration for decorating your home this fall! As always, thank you so much for stopping by!

I love your room decorating ideas! I never thought of picking branches with leaves still on them as a decorating item! So pretty! I’m still obsessing over the wall spice rack you have in the living room! I have to get that………. :)

Hi Janet – it’s like nature’s free gift to us!! I hope you have fun! And thank you – we love the wall rack too, it was the perfect pice for that corner. I have one left in the shop if you’re interested! https://shop.boxwoodavenue.com/decor/metal-spice-rack-wall-shelf
Everything looks amazing! Where did you find that bookshelf hanging on the wall?! I LOVE it!
Thank you so much Leslie! It’s actually a shop item! You can see it here :) https://shop.boxwoodavenue.com/decor/metal-spice-rack-wall-shelf
Chloe, I am so enjoying the Boxwood Avenue/Farmhouse Decorating site. I love the photo of an entryway == Staircase, horse paintings on wall, tile floor, bell jar ceiling fixture with smoke cap and a bird in flight on the chain above the smoke cap. There is a scalloped garland around the rig of the bell jar. Looking for a source for this fixture. Can you help?? Thanks.
