DIY Grapefruit Thyme Epsom Salt Bath Soak
Grapefruit and thyme Epsom salts will make your bath smell like a little slice of Heaven's citrus farm.
The other day I worked out for the first time in a really long time. Then, the next day, I did it again. I know, I don't know what got into me either.
On day two, I was feeling a little sore, and also really fit. I even flexed in the mirror to check for my six-pack before jumping into "The Perfect Design Series". My girl Tracy likes to push me to my limits, and I'll admit, a few swear words slipped out of my mouth during the
Right at the exact moment of "YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME TRACY, NO ONE CAN LIFT THEIR LEG LIKE TH..." Greg walked through the door. I think I was holding a strange sort of upside down frog pose when he said, "You're working out?"
What, like it's hard?
Two days in a row might have been a little bit of an over commitment for my married body. Because the next day when I went to sit on the toilet I cried a little and cursed Tracy's Hervé Leger workout clothed body.
There are a few truths in life, and let me tell you, when you spend all day in a saddle, or binge exercise Tracy Anderson DVD's two days in a row for the first time in six months, Epsom salts are your friend. Your very best friend besides a glass of wine and an issue of People sitting on the outside of your tub. Actually, the bathtub is the real
But truthfully, unless you're swimming in the great blue sea,
With a little essential oil, and a little
Grapefruit essential oils really pulled through for me on this one, making my Epsom salts smell like a tiny sliver of Heaven's citrus field. I imagine there's a citrus field in heaven. It's probably not spiked with tequila like I prefer my citrus to be, but it's heaven, so I think that counts for something.
I really like making bath soaks because they don't grow bacteria as easily as a scrub, and can be kept for a long time. I'd even say that these suckers don't ever expire. I mean one batch could probably knock out at least ten years of mother's day presents. Kidding.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, these make great gifts, and they're super easy, and they are super cheap. It's a win, win for everyone.
I like to add these into little care packages that include some wine (or depending on the friend, some tequila), an issue of People, and if they've got kids (the human kind) - some earplugs. Okay, I haven't done the whole earplug thing yet, but admit it, it's a good idea.
DIY Grapefruit Thyme Epsom Salts
- A bag of Epsom salts
- 20+ drops grapefruit essential oil
- Handful of thyme (preferably dried, but if you're a spur of the moment kind of gal like me, who hasn't been prepared for life since '96, you can use fresh)
Mix it all up in a large bowl, divide evenly among little mason jars that instantly make anything cute.
If you're feeling spunky, you can print out these free labels - use my favorite craft tool ever 'a slidey cutter thing' to cut them out, then use my second favorite craft tool ever - double stick tape - to secure the labels to the jars.
