Tomorrow is 4th of July, but many of us will be celebrating through the week and into the weekend! Are you hosting a party this weekend? Or perhaps attending one?

I have a few simple ideas to help you decorate for the Fourth! Did you see the DIY bunting tutorial I posted yesterday? I included some simple tips for decorating without buying anything – I think you’ll enjoy them!

One of my favorite ways to dress up a party is to find something ordinary, and then find a way to make it special! This can be done with anything, you just have to get a little creative! The bonus is that this is usually an inexpensive way to make a party feel very special.

I love coming up with creative ways to use muslin bags, paper straws, and twine because they are inexpensive and have a special feeling to them.

To dress up cocktails and drinks this Fourth of July, try adding bits of ribbon and twine to popsicle sticks to create your own DIY cocktail stirrers. This is so festive, easy, and best of all – cheap!

I used red and white baker’s twine, and blue & red ribbon from my ribbon drawer. I simply cut small 3″ strips of ribbon, and tied it to the popsicle sticks in a few different styles to create a few different variations of the stirrers.

If you don’t have popsicle sticks – you could alternately use kebab sticks (just cut them down to size). Heck, you could even use toothpicks and turn these into little appetizer skewers or cupcake toppers!

This simple idea is versatile for any holiday and is a simple trick to dress up a party in a flash without having to head to the craft store to buy anything special (assuming you have a few ribbon scraps laying around).
