DIY Coco Rose Body Polish With Oak & Ashland
When Danika of Oak & Ashland emailed me to see if I’d be interested in reviewing some of her products, I thought, ya know, I don’t really want to just review products, I want to get down and dirty and learn about the creation process. I want to share what makes Oak & Ashland special, what separates it from larger companies, and of course – how we could make our own!
Then, when I started working with Kelly from A Savvy Event for A Savvy Lifestyle, and had the chance to go to Sonoma (which is also where Oak & Ashland is located), I knew I wanted to arrange a great morning of girl time and DIY fun together.
Sarah Deragon of Portraits to the People was able to come shoot the morning for us. She has just recently relocated from San Francisco to Sonoma, and is an amazing photographer – specifically of portraits and lifestyle. Her instagram is really neat too, she’s been doing a series of flower portraits, you’ve got to check it out!
As we got to making, we learned that Danika founded Oak & Ashland after working at the Kate Somerville clinic for seven years, and realized there was a lack of natural products that were also effective. She noticed her clientele was requesting more and more products with ‘clean’ ingredients – so she began making her own. After a few years of testing and mixing, Danika opened shop with Oak & Ashland.
With the likes of Martha Stewart and SMP Living believing in the products, Oak & Ashland is no ordinary beauty line. Danika mixes and tests every product not only for its purity, but also for its effectiveness. Her immense knowledge base of skin, and natural ingredients, gives her a unique ability to develop products that are pure and clean, and that actually work!
She was kind enough to share a DIY recipe that we can all make on our own at home, and bottle up to give as gifts! This is a great body polish that can be used in the shower or bath, and smells absolutely delicious! You can’t go wrong with coconut oil and rose essential oils, and the pink salt gives it that extra special color. This is a great recipe to use if you’re looking to make something for your mom this Mother’s Day!
